In an Octopus' Garden

The Fashion Greats drew PFW to a close. CHANEL with dreamy aquatic wonder and LOUIS VUITTON taking us back to the 1920's on a glittering carousel.

Chanel transforming the Grand Palais into a huge aquatic chamber- glittering shells, seaweed, and seahorses all in powdery chalk white. Delicate sea urchins appeared dressed in gossamer laces, pastel pinks, pearlised jackets and feathers gliding across the huge amphitheatre. Jackets were cut high at the back to reveal pearl encrusted spines and geometric shapes cut into chiffon moving as if scales with the tides. Layers of fabric swathed around tiny bodies, the hints of sequins and coral prints under camouflage silks creating the most exotic specimens from somewhere beyond the sea...

All above from Chanel SS 2012

Marc Jacobs chose an pearlescent wonderland for LOUIS VUITTON, dainty models with lace collars and cuffs sat atop pale carousel horses, 'its my biggest set, i could never have done this anywhere else. Very magical, like a magic box; very Paris'. Soft focus colours, textures, fabrics, hair and makeup, creating a 1950s/1920's fusion of gauzy skirts and drop waists for playful feminine glamour. Ice cream coloured dresses with delicate laser cut appliqués dripping with sweet shop appeal!
